  • APEDA to promote Indian cashew, push value-added exports through FTAs

    Feb 9th, 2026

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), in collaboration with the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), is actively promoting the brand ‘Indian Cashew’ at major international trade fairs, with a renewed focus on value-added exports. The initiative aims to shift exports towards higher-value segments such as roasted, salted, flavoured and other processed cashew products, improving export realisation and strengthening India’s premium positioning in the global market. At an interactive session titled “Cashew & Value-Added Products Export Promotion Meeting”, organised in Kollam, APEDA officials apprised exporters of enhanced market access opportunities arising from recently concluded Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). Zero-duty access is now available under trade agreements with the UK, Australia, Oman, EFTA nations—Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein—and the European Union. The framework for an interim trade agreement with the US has also been finalised.
