Amid rising demand for dry fruits during the festive season, a customer in Indore has alleged that cashews purchased from a shop in the Malwa Mill area were infested with worms. Following the complaint, the Food Safety Department inspected the shop and collected samples of cashews, almonds and other food items for laboratory testing. According to the complaint, Sheetal purchased dry fruits worth around ₹6,500 from RK Dry Fruits in the Malwa Mill area. The purchase included 500 grams of cashews, bought at ₹1,400 per kg. A few days later, the family allegedly discovered worms in the cashews and returned to the shop to lodge a complaint. The complainant claimed that the shop owner attributed the infestation to the cashews having been stored at home for too long. Unsatisfied with the response, the customer approached the Food Safety Department.
