  • Cashew association welcomes support for farmer training as processor expands operations

    Jun 9th, 2026

The Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia has thanked Khmer Agro Cashew Co Ltd for donating a projector to support farmer training programmes scheduled to begin today and run until 2027. Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia President Uon Silot said the equipment will be used during technical sessions to improve knowledge sharing on cultivation techniques, quality standards, climate resilience, and post-harvest management. The donation comes as Khmer Agro Cashew prepares to launch its processing operations. Established in 2025, the company is an emerging player in Cambodia’s cashew processing sector. Earlier this year, the company signed a two-month agreement with six agricultural communities in Kratie province to purchase the premium M23 cashew variety during the 2026 harvest season. Khmer Agro Cashew Co Ltd Managing Director Ear Kokchheng said the company plans to source raw cashew nuts directly from farmer organisations for processing and export to international markets, including Japan, Taiwan, and Europe. “Direct sourcing from farmer groups will help create stable demand, reduce reliance on intermediaries, and improve income opportunities for rural communities,” Kokchheng said. The company is developing a processing facility with a daily capacity of 50 tonnes of raw cashew nuts and expects to begin commercial production in early August this year, aiming to become a leading exporter of single-origin Khmer cashew kernels. To strengthen international market access, the company has scheduled audits with SGS to obtain Halal, ISO 22000, and ISO 9001 certifications by August 2026, followed by BRCGS certification by November 2026. The facility is expected to create around 100 jobs, supporting local economic development while contributing to Cambodia’s efforts to expand domestic processing and increase value-added agricultural exports. The association noted that stronger partnerships between processors and farmer organisations are essential to ensure a greater share of the industry’s value remains within the country.
