From exporting a small quantity of raw cashew nuts, Vietnam's cashew industry has risen to become the world leader with 80% market share of cashew nuts. On the afternoon of November 21, the Vietnam Cashew Association (VINACAS) celebrated its 35th anniversary (1990 - 2025) in Ho Chi Minh City. According to Mr. Pham Van Cong, Chairman of VINACAS, over the past 30 years, the Vietnamese cashew industry has made a "miracle": from nothing to something; from weak to strong. From exporting a modest amount of raw cashew nuts, Vietnam has become the number 1 cashew nut exporter with 80% market share and consuming nearly 70% of the global raw cashew nut exports. From being completely dependent on processing equipment and technology, the cashew industry has mastered and exported modern, advanced processing equipment and technology to the world. "That miracle affirms Vietnamese mettle, Vietnamese intelligence, and the capacity of Vietnamese people. The cashew industry is facing new opportunities as well as new challenges," Mr. Cong emphasized. Vietnam cashew industry makes 8221 miracles Vietnamese cashew nuts account for 80% of the world market share. According to Mr. Cong, VINACAS is proposing and will propose policy mechanisms with two goals. First, strongly develop the processing of high value-added products (deep processing), meeting the diverse needs of the world market; gain a worthy position in the global cashew value chain; and at the same time develop the domestic market. Besides, strongly developing raw material areas towards quality and efficiency; both creating a proactive position in quality raw material sources for processing, and contributing to the successful implementation of the state's "three agriculture" policy. According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in the first 10 months of 2025, cashew nut exports reached 4.25 billion USD, an increase of nearly 19% over the same period last year. This year, the cashew industry is expected to reach an export value of 5 billion USD for the first time.
