The Director General of the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania (CBT), Mr. Francis Alfred, has expressed his appreciation for the achievements and efforts of the Korosho Queens volleyball team, which is sponsored by the Cashewnut Board of Tanzania. Speaking at the CBT offices in Mtwara on September 3, 2026, when the team visited to present the MUUNGANO Championship trophy, which Korosho Queens won during the 2026 season in Zanzibar, Mr. Alfred urged the team to continue serving as an ambassador for Tanzania’s cashew industry. He encouraged the team to use its platform to promote the cashew industry, encourage cashew consumption and processing, and create greater awareness of cashew-based products. The Director General also commended the team’s efforts and pledged CBT’s continued support to help it perform even better in future competitions. He encouraged the team’s officials and players to use the opportunities created through sports to build successful careers and secure a better future. He stressed that the team’s continued success in competitions could serve as an effective platform for raising public awareness about the health benefits of cashew consumption, while also improving understanding of the wider economic and nutritional benefits of the crop. Meanwhile, the team’s Manager, Mr. Hussein Kibombwe, said the slogan “Kula Korosho kwa Afya” (“Eat Cashews for Health”) continues to receive a positive response from stakeholders and supporters in different areas. Korosho Queens has continued to use sporting competitions and other events to promote Tanzania’s cashew industry and cashew-derived products, while encouraging communities to include cashews as part of a healthy diet.
