    Aug 20th, 2026

Speaking to the Tanzanian Ambassador to Algeria, Mobhare Matinyi, during his visit to the company’s facility in the city of Oran, the company’s owner and CEO, Walid Dib, expounded on his plan to invest in three modern cashew nut processing plants in the country to benefit from the renowned quality of Tanzanian cashew nuts. “Tanzanian cashew nuts are of exceptional quality and we have resolved to build three plants first establishing one in Masasi, Mtwara region, where we will install modern machinery from Vietnam,” said Dib, who is already working with a local partner to finalise the formalisation of an inaugural company, Kilimanjaro Nuts Limited. Congratulating Dib for commencing the investment process in Tanzania, Ambassador Matinyi assured him of the government’s support towards the fulfillment of his dream, which will expand employment and increase government revenue, as well as bring more skills and foreign revenue into the country. “It is the government’s intent to support investment in local cashew nut processing to boost the percentage of value-added exports to the global market, and significantly reduce the sale of in-shell raw cashew nuts,” said Ambassador Matinyi. Dib further added that he is currently readying storage warehouses in Masasi district in Mtwara, and that in September he will order equipment from Vietnam, expected to arrive in the country with experts to train their Tanzanian counterparts from January 2027. Describing his success in importing Tanzanian cashews, Dib showed Ambassador Matinyi Tanzanian cashew nuts that went through 11 stages of production at the Oran factory before being packaged ready for sale, stressing that he has now chosen to stick with Tanzanian cashews. “I received six containers last month; I have six more at the port of Oran while seven are on their way in, with another seven at the port in Dar es Salaam waiting to be shipped, and each container is packed with 27 tonnes of cashews nuts,” he said. Concluding the visit, Ambassador Matinyi said the government's efforts through the Tanzania Cashew Board (CBT) increased production of the crop to 617,683 tonnes in the year 2025/26, which brought in Sh.1.25 trillion, makingTanzania one of the largest global producers after Cote d'Ivoire, Vietnam and India.
