Ministry of Agriculture and Environment: Vietnam's cashew nut exports target 4.5 billion USD in 2025 With strong global demand and export prices remaining high, Vietnam's cashew industry is aiming for an export target of 4.5 billion USD in 2025. Positive signals from the market and growth in turnover are important foundations to achieve this goal. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in August alone, cashew nut exports were estimated at 70,000 tons, worth about 431 million USD. In the first 8 months of the year, Vietnam exported about 482,700 tons of cashew nuts, reaching a turnover of 3.24 billion USD. Compared to the same period last year, output decreased slightly by 1.2% but value increased sharply by 16.4%. The main reason was that the average export price reached 6,711 USD/ton, up 17.8% and the highest level in many years. To reach the expected 4.5 billion USD mark, the cashew industry needs to achieve an additional 1.26 billion USD in the last four months of the year - a time when consumer demand in major markets such as the US, Europe and China often increases due to the festival season and Tet. Currently, China, the US and the Netherlands are the three largest export markets of Vietnam, accounting for 21.7%, 20% and 9.4% of total turnover, respectively. Notably, exports to China increased sharply by 47%, the Netherlands increased by 20.1%, while the US decreased by 11.7%. Among the 15 major markets, Latvia recorded the most impressive growth rate, reaching 57%. Vietnam's cashew nut export target is 45 billion USD in 2025. Vietnam's cashew industry is aiming for an export target of 4.5 billion USD in 2025. In addition to exports, Vietnam has also boosted imports of raw cashews to ensure raw materials for processing. In the past eight months, domestic enterprises have spent more than $3.3 billion on imports from Cambodia, Ivory Coast, Tanzania and Ghana. Cambodia continues to be the largest supplier with a turnover of $1.5 billion, thanks to its close geographical location and low logistics costs. Experts say that with positive growth momentum, Vietnam's cashew industry has every opportunity to break through and firmly consolidate its position as the world's leading cashew nut exporting country.
