  • St Ignatius gets $15m facility to process peanuts, cashews 11/21/2022

    Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha on Saturday commissioned a facility in St Ignatius, Region Nine to process peanuts and cashews. A release from the Ministry of Agriculture said that the facility which forms part of the ministry’s New Guyana Marketing Corporation’s 2022 work programme was completed at a cost of $15 million and will allow farmers in St. Ignatius and surrounding villages the opportunity to process peanuts and cashew nuts. In 2020, the release said that farmers made requests to Mustapha for help with retrofitting an existing building in order to make it more modern and efficient.
