Handcrafted Cashew Nut Stung Treng (HCST) has made its first EU export, sending premium cashew products to Berlin in Germany. The products gained entry to the country after the country took part in the ANUGA 2025 trade fair in Cologne. The shipment, which left on November 23, is seen as showing that high-quality Cambodian agricultural goods are competitive on the global market, validating efforts by the government and international partners to boost export capabilities. HCST was one of eight export-ready companies featured in Cambodia’s first-ever national pavilion at ANUGA and which ran under the theme, “Cambodia Basket of Wonders.” The pavilion initiative was led by Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce in collaboration with the EU and the Government of Germany, designed to provide local businesses with a direct channel to foreign markets. Positive feedback from international buyers and visitors about the quality of Cambodian products confirmed the increasing competitiveness of the country’s food and drinks sector, Germany’s foreign aid body GIZ said. Participating companies benefited from comprehensive export development support provided by Germany and the EU, including pre-fair trade-readiness coaching, customized branding and matchmaking with global buyers. Cambodian cashew nuts entered the European market for the first time in early September, when 14 tonnes were sent to Italy in a move hailed as a turning point for Cambodia’s bid to become a global cashew powerhouse. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Commerce has reaffirmed that the latest contract reinforces its commitment, alongside Germany and the European Union, to strengthen Cambodia’s export framework and help businesses expand globally. Cambodia earned more than $807 million from exporting cashews between January and October, up 60 percent rise from the previous year, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
