The UDF has decided to allot the
position of chairman of the Forward Castes Development Corporation to the RSP.
Further, the RSP representative in the ministry, Shibu Baby John, would be
responsible for Cashew.
The party had earlier made it
clear that it did not need the deputy speaker's post for three months.
Discussions regarding that also did not progress.
Meanwhile, the RSP had complained
to the CM that its members were not considered when representatives to the Travancore
Devasvom were announced.
After Prayar Gopalakrishnan
resigned from the position of head of the Forward Castes Development
Corporation to become head of the Devasvam Board, his post is being allotted to
the RSP.
RSP's Alappuzha district
secretary B. Rajasekhran would take over the post.
The appointment of Shibu Baby
John is believed to have been motivated by corruption in the Cashew Development
board. The setback the UDF received at Kollam during recent elections was also
a trigger.
The LDF had, during its tenure,
entrusted P.KGurudasan, who hails from Kollam, to oversee the Cashew department
under the Industries Department.
This had helped the LDF during
the elections. Shibu Baby John has demanded financial assistance for the
department.
Cashew Development Corporation
Chairperson R. Chandrashekaran, and some of the board members had recently
resigned. The government had decided that the position would not be fulfilled
by political appointments.
The new feeling is that a
committee of officers with the collector as chair would suffice to manage the
corporation.
